CablingTech Title CablingTech Trainer

The CablingTech Cable Installation Training System gives students extensive hands-on experience in a realistic work environment. Theory and hands-on experience are provided in three areas to fully prepare students to succeed in cable-installation jobs.

The system is designed for 6, 12, 18 and 24 student classes. Each system contains all necessary courseware, components, equipment, and tools required to implement a comprehensive cable installation training course.

With this system, instructors can tailor their classes to meet teaching goals, physical classroom restrictions, and students' needs. Total course time can be shortened or extended, and special emphasis can be given to any particular industry, technology, or installation type. Lab configurations are limited only by an instructor's imagination.

Topical Divisions
The course has three major divisions:

  • Three technologies (twisted pair, coax, fiber)
  • Three industries (voice/telco, data, video)
  • Three types of installations (industrial, commercial, residential)

    Packages
Key elements of the system include:

  • Tools
  • Student Training Program with Twisted Pair Practice Station
  • Parts for 48 students
  • Instructor's Package
  • Skills Training Center

Cable Installation Tools Set Cable Installation Tool Set
This set contains tools that each student uses at the bench, Twisted Pair Practice Station, and Cabling Skills Training Center. These tools are frequently used by the student, so each student should have an Installation Tool Set.

Student Training Program Student Training Program
One Student Training Program, which includes a Twisted Pair Practice Station, is required for each student in the first class. In subsequent classes, one Student Courseware Package is required for each student. Using the Twisted Pair Practice Station, the student cuts, strips, dresses, routes, and terminates the following cables:

  • 25-Pair Telco Cable
  • 4-Conductor Telco Station Wire
  • 1-Pair Cross-Connect Wire
  • 4-Pair CAT5 Cable

Using this Practice Station, students learn the proper use of cabling tools, including 66 & 110 Punch Down Tools.

    Parts Package Parts Package
The student consumes cable and components during the course. The Instructor's Guide provides procedures to maximize the uses of the consumable parts, especially cable. The Cabling Trainer Parts Package contains the consumable components for 48 students.

The CAT5 cable and jacks, BNC and F connector jacks, velcro cable ties and straps, and electrical tape are supplied in six colors (blue, orange, green, white, red and yellow). The instructor assigns each student a color. The color-coded parts enable the instructor to easily identify which cables and connectors belong to a particular student.

    Instructor's Packag Instructor's Package
This package includes all instructional material, tools to assemble the Skills Training Center, manage the course, and test students' work. It also includes some tools and test equipment the student will use infrequently. The Instuctors Package is available with and without the Fluke TDR Cable Tester.

    Cabling Skills Training Center
After students demonstrate proficiency in cutting, stripping, dressing and terminating cables, they begin working on the Cabling Skills Training Center. Each Skills Training Center can accommodate 6 Students. A classroom may consist of one or more Skills Training Centers. Use two Skills Training Centers for 12 students, three Centers for 18 students, etc.

Each Skills Training Center consists of: 6 Wall Panels, a 10' Overhead Cable Raceway, and all Training Equipment. Three Packages are required for each Cabling Skills Training Center:

  • Cabling Skills Training Center Walls Package
  • Cabling Skills Training Center Equipment Package
  • Cabling Skills Training Center Tool Set

The suggested configuration for a Skills Training Center is two 3-wall triangular towers. The towers are four feet high and the tower sides are four feet wide. The far sides of the two 3-wall towers are then connected by a 10' overhead cable raceway. The total floor space required for this configuration is 4'x12'. The Skills Training Center consists of the following walls:
    Tower 1

  • 1 Telco Room with Outside Plant Cable Entrance
  • 1 Equipment Room
  • 1 Office/Residence
    Tower 2
  • 1 Telco Room
  • 1 Data Room
  • 1 Office/Residence Arrangements other than the two triangular unit configuration are limited only by the instructor's imagination. Two or more Skills Training Centers can be connected together with additional overhead cable raceways, creating a Training Campus. After each class, the instructor replaces the drywall panel, fire block and a portion of the top plate on each Office/Residence Wall.

    Instructor Flexibility
    1. Number & type of Skills Training Center walls
    2. Arrangement of the Cabling Skills Training Center walls - can be organized to fit the instructor's and/or classroom's needs
    3. Replace or not replace drywall - the instructor may elect to not replace the drywall by cutting the drywall outlet openings himself, and not having students cut the drywall
    4. Number, length & height of overhead cable raceways attached to the Cabling Skills Training Center
    5. Total course time - many student exercises may be lengthened, shortened or eliminated
    6. Emphasize voice, data or video, or any combination
    7. Emphasize any combination of twisted pair, coax or fiber
    8. Emphasize residential, commercial or industrial installations
