Major Changes coming to all BPI Affiliates and Test Locations

As of February 1st, 2012 BPI will be making operational changes in order to align itself with the ANSI requirements. We have provided their Statement as follows:

The Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) is dedicated to ensuring that its exams succeed in fairly and thoroughly evaluating the building science knowledge and skills of certification candidates. With more than 30,000 exams administered this year and over 1,300 proctors and growing in the network, BPI needs to provide additional oversight to ensure proctoring services are consistent and fair across the nation. Toward this end, BPI will begin implementing quality assurance measures associated with the administration of its exams on February 1st, 2012.

• Trainers/proctors may provide training and field examinations to the same certification, for the same organization, so long as they do not train and field test the same candidate.
• All exams will be videotaped with audio, and a percentage reviewed by BPI as part of an overall proctor QC program

• To meet the additional costs associated with these quality assurance measures, BPI will increase exam fees for the first time ever on February 1st, 2012. Online (written) exams will be $250 and field exams will be $500.
